Gunge

You need: 

  1. 9 cups of plain flour 

  1. 6 ½ cups of bubble bath (Value brand-a light colour) 

  1. Paint (To achieve desired colour)  

 

How to make it: 

  1. Mix together the ingredients in a tray or bowl  

  1. You can make the gunge more or less thick by adding flour to thicken/bubble bath to thin 

 

How it can be used to support learning: 

  1. Exploring texture 

  1. Tracking a moving object/Responding to the position of a material 

  1. Hand awareness- where are their hands and how do they move to explore items? 

  1. Increasing use of fingers to grasp and release by picking up objects from within the gunge 

  1. Developing listening skills– Have objects hidden and  ask your child to find them when you give a symbolic and/or verbal cue 

  1. Developing problem solving skills- Searching for particular colour/type/number of items 

  1. Engaging in parallel play with another child/adult 

  1. Developing messy play skills- patting and spreading
