Construction has officially started for Rowan Wood and is expected to be completed in January 2026. The new school is being built on the site of the former Kidbrooke Primary School on Hargood Road.
On Thursday 27th March prospective children for Rowan Wood, staff from Rowan Wood and Willow Dene, councillors from the Royal Borough of Greenwich and representatives from Galliford Try, the contractor, attended a groundbreaking ceremony for Rowan Wood.
Councillor Adel Khaireh, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "In Royal Greenwich, we want children and young people to achieve great things and fulfil their incredible potential. Developing environments like Rowan Wood School, where additional support can be provided, will empower them to do that.”
Councillor Majid Rahman, cabinet member for planning, estate renewal and development, said: "This day marks the start of an exciting new chapter for local education. We are working on building more provisions like this in the borough to meet demand which I am eager to see come to fruition."
We will keep you updated on the progress of construction, including the planned topping out ceremony!
